Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Pluely is a desktop AI assistant built local-first: your data lives on your device by default, and only what is strictly needed to serve a request you make ever reaches a server. This policy explains what that means in practice.
What stays on your device
Conversation history, saved meetings and transcripts, notes, your prompts and their attached files, extracted document text, and app settings are stored locally on your device. API keys you add for your own providers are encrypted on-device and are never uploaded to Pluely's servers.
Deleting the app's local data (or uninstalling) removes this information from your device.
What reaches servers, and why
Some features require processing outside your device, always in direct response to something you do:
- AI requests. When you ask a question or an automatic response fires, the relevant content (your question, selected transcript context, and any screenshot or document excerpt you attach) is sent to the AI model you selected so it can answer. If you use your own API keys or a local CLI, requests go to your chosen provider under your own account.
- Transcription audio. On managed plans, live-transcription audio is processed transiently to produce your transcript and is not used to build profiles about you.
- License validation. Activating or using a paid plan sends your license key and a device identifier to validate the license and enforce plan limits.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use the content of your conversations, transcripts, or documents for advertising.
Payments
Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy as the merchant of record. Payment details (such as your card information) are handled by them and never touch Pluely's servers. Their privacy policy governs the payment data they process.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand product usage on our website and app — for example which features are used and where errors occur — so we can improve Pluely. Analytics is about product events, not the content of your conversations.
Data retention
Local data stays on your device until you delete it. Server-side records connected to your license (such as purchase and usage-metering records needed to operate your plan) are kept for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
Your choices
- Use the free plan with your own API keys or local CLIs — your AI traffic then goes to providers you choose, under your own accounts.
- Delete local history, meetings, and files at any time.
- Contact us to ask about or request deletion of server-side records tied to your license.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be called out in release notes.
