Pluely v1.1.0 Release Notes

Pluely shows up for every meeting

v1 was the rewrite. v1.1 is what happened after ten thousand of you used it for real: every bug report, every "why does it do that on Windows", every meeting where Pluely should have been there before you thought of it. It notices when a call starts, takes clean notes if that is all you want, writes the recap when the meeting ends, and lets you go Pro without leaving the app. And it fixes the long list you reported.

What's new

๐Ÿ”” Meeting detection. When a call starts in Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, FaceTime and more, the overlay comes forward with a quiet Start transcription prompt. No system notification, so nothing shows on a shared screen. Included with every Pro license, on by default, with a switch in App Settings.

๐Ÿ“ Transcription only, and an automatic recap. A mode with no automatic AI and no suggestion chips: a clean, speaker-labeled transcript, switched from the Auto responses chip or from Responses in the dashboard. When a session ends, Pluely writes a summary with decisions and action items and saves it to the meeting.

๐Ÿ’ณ Buy Pro without leaving the app. Reach a Pro feature, or open Dashboard โ†’ Your plan, and a small panel shows the plans and prices. Pay on the secure checkout and the license activates on that computer by itself. No key to copy, no email to dig through. The purchase is tied to the computer that opened the checkout, the app checks the key really belongs to your order, and it can only ever activate once. Bought on the website? Paste that key on the dashboard, same result.

๐ŸŽ Signed and notarized on macOS. Pluely opens with a normal double-click. No "Open Anyway" in System Settings, no Terminal command on first launch.

๐ŸŽง Listen mode, sharper. Every answer reads the whole conversation, so it knows who is who and what was already covered, and answers the latest lines with something you can actually say. A Generate button during a session and after you stop, plus Cmd/Ctrl+G. Stop finishes the job: the last words are transcribed and the answer to what was just asked is generated. Ask and Listen keep separate conversations, Start new clears a finished session and listens again, and the compact transcript window is redesigned with speaker chips, timestamps and a New lines button.

โšก Summaries in seconds. Summarize, Make concise, Make longer, Explain, Key points, Translate, the automatic meeting recap and the smart chips run on a fast model chosen by Pluely, not on whatever model you picked for chat, with a hard time limit. Long transcripts are handled in parts, so a two-hour meeting still comes back whole. Dev Pro keeps using your own connected AI.

๐Ÿ“ธ Screenshots that tell you what happened. A capture that could not go out says why, right under the composer. Timed captures work during a Listen session, a line says what the next message will carry, and an answer that received images says how many. Captures are a few hundred KB now, take well under a second, and show as thumbnails you can open, flip through or remove. Limit automatic screenshots to an area you pick once, edit the question sent with each timed capture, and with Use image on, a follow-up chip takes the screenshot and sends it with the prompt in one step.

๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Stealth, finished. The moment a Pro license activates, Hide app icon, Always on top and Meeting detection switch on together, on every activation. Hide app icon now really hides it: on macOS the Dock icon disappears the moment the switch flips and the app leaves Cmd+Tab, and from the next launch it starts hidden. On Windows and Linux the dashboard stays out of the taskbar too. Hover hints, the Listen language menu and the right-click menu are drawn inside Pluely's own window, so macOS no longer draws them as separate popups a screen share could catch.

๐Ÿงญ One copy, always reachable. Pluely runs as a background app: it starts hidden at login, the show/hide shortcut brings it up from anywhere, and closing the window only hides it. Opening Pluely while it is already running brings the existing overlay forward instead of starting a second copy. The Open dashboard / Close dashboard chip always says which one it will do and always brings the dashboard in front, even with the taskbar icon hidden. Quit for real from the dashboard sidebar or the new Quit Pluely button at the bottom of the overlay settings.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ For developers. A flask icon next to a connected CLI sends a one-word test and shows the CLI's own reply or error. CLIs installed with Homebrew, npm or nvm start from the app the way they do in a terminal. Claude Code keeps one session per conversation, so follow-ups send only the new message. Dev Pro's live transcription issue is fixed, Dev Pro always uses your selected speech-to-text provider with your Listen language, and Summarize and the other transformations run on your own provider or CLI.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Dashboard. Search everything: the All Conversations search looks inside transcripts, messages, notes, recaps and file text, on every plan. Manage subscription opens the Pluely billing page and shows the email your order is under, so you know which one to enter there. Contact support sits next to it. A confirmation before removing a license, since a license activates once on one device. Full overlay size sizes the overlay to the whole screen with one tap.

The full list, with every setting explained, is in the changelog on the docs.

Fixes

Windows

  • Ctrl+\ hides the overlay again, one invalid shortcut no longer stops all of them from registering, and Always on top can be turned off.
  • Ctrl+G, Ctrl+P, Ctrl+R, Ctrl+S, Ctrl+U and Ctrl+1 to 4 work in the overlay after you click it, matching Cmd+key on macOS. The overlay never takes keyboard focus on Windows, so these travel through Pluely's own key hook.
  • Typing no longer stays stuck in Pluely after you use Ask. Clicking outside the overlay, switching apps, or hiding the overlay hands the keyboard back at once.
  • Pluely opens the microphone the way calling apps do, so Teams, Zoom and browser calls keep their echo cancellation while Listen is on. The other side no longer hears an echo of your voice.
  • Shortcut hints show the keys for your platform, and a Mac binding left over from an older version is replaced by the Windows one.
  • OpenAI Codex installed with npm works.
  • After turning Hide app icon on, quit and reopen Pluely once for the taskbar button to go; every launch after that starts hidden.

macOS

  • macOS 13 (Ventura) and early 14: Listen mode works again with your microphone. System audio needs macOS 14.2 or later, and Pluely says so instead of failing.
  • Taking a region screenshot no longer pulls focus away from the app you are sharing, and no longer crashes the app.
  • Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Codex installed with Homebrew or npm are detected.
  • The app restarts itself after installing an update.

Linux

  • Taking a screenshot no longer crashes the app. Pluely turns off WebKitGTK's DMA-BUF renderer, which crashed on NVIDIA and several Wayland setups whenever a second window opened.
  • On Wayland, screenshots go through the desktop portal and region select opens your desktop's own picker. GNOME and KDE work, not just wlroots desktops.
  • Listen records the microphone through PulseAudio or PipeWire, so it shares the mic with your meeting app and honors the input device you picked. System audio finds your default output's monitor source.
  • On Wayland, keyboard shortcuts bind through the desktop's shortcut portal (KDE Plasma 5.27+, GNOME 48+, wlroots desktops with a portal). The Shortcuts page tells you whether it worked.
  • The blank or transparent window with AMD graphics and Wayland compositors.
  • The app restarts itself after installing an update.

Everywhere

  • Switching from Listen to Ask pauses a live session and releases the microphone. It stays paused, with a note saying why, until you press Resume.
  • Stop can no longer hang on "Finishing". Both the app and the audio backend give up waiting after a few seconds and end the session cleanly.
  • Compact view shows the transcript on the Free plan too, with your own speech-to-text provider.
  • Custom AI and speech providers without CORS headers no longer fail with a network error.
  • The dashboard sidebar scrolls on a short window, so Contact support, Read the docs, Report a bug and Quit are always reachable.
  • If you set a capture delay in Settings, the status pill counts it down, so a deliberate wait never looks like a slow capture.
  • Meeting detection ignores Pluely's own microphone use, so transcribing a video never triggers a false meeting prompt.
  • Screenshots are labelled with their real image type on the way to the model, which some models required to read them at all.
  • The Open dashboard chip no longer bounces: Close hides the dashboard every time, Open brings it in front even when it was minimized or buried.
  • After a license activates, the dashboard stays in front instead of dropping behind other windows while the app icon is being hidden.

  • #304: Always on top can be turned off on Windows.
  • #303, #302: typing no longer stays stuck in Pluely after you click into another app on Windows.
  • #298, #289: the macOS build is signed and notarized, so it opens without the "damaged" or "unidentified developer" warning.
  • #295, #306: custom AI and speech providers that send no CORS headers work.
  • #294: "Transcription with your provider failed" in Listen mode on Dev Pro.
  • #286: Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Codex installed with Homebrew or npm are detected on macOS.
  • #299, #307: Manage subscription opens the Pluely billing page straight from the dashboard, with the email your order is under, and Contact support sits next to it.
  • #290: the blank or transparent window on Linux with AMD graphics and Wayland compositors.
  • #285: taking a region screenshot on macOS no longer pulls focus away from the app you are sharing.
  • #288: Claude Code keeps one session per conversation, so follow-ups send only the new message and answer sooner.

Upgrading

Your existing license works as is. Update from the app, or download the latest installer. The macOS build is signed and notarized and opens with a normal double-click. On Windows, if SmartScreen appears, choose More info, then Run anyway. On macOS, if screen or microphone permissions act up after updating, remove Pluely from the permission list and re-add it (guide).
